Day 31 - Rome Hop On Hop Off Bus

Day 31 (Oct. 3rd) - Today was scheduled to be a down day with nothing scheduled.

There is a little grocery store just next to the door for our building.  I went over to purchase milk and cereal in the morning.  While quaint, the prices are somewhat high.

Around 9 a.m., the husband of the owner of the apartment stopped by with 2 new keyboads.  That has made a huge difference.  We have to use an old XP computer, but at least we have internet access.  The Italian keyboard is taking a little bit to get used to. The "@" requires you to push on the "Alt Gr" key at the same time as another key.  Also, some of the keys are in different locations.  The "ù" is where the Enter key should be.

However, we decided to buy tickets on the one of the several Hop On Hop Off  (HOHO) Buses in Rome.  After getting a late start, we began walking towards the Coloseum for one of the stop off points.  A street vendor for one of the HOHO buses offered us a good deal.  We bought 48 hr tickets for all of us for 63€.

We drove the circuit twice.  Later in the afternoon, we stopped by a supermarket to purchase some more groceries.  Unfortunately, we didn't know where the nearest stop was and had to walk to the Coloseum to catch the bus back to a point near our apartment.  There was a street vendor selling flour filled balloon toys.  We got him down to 4€ for 4, and that made the girls afternoon.

Back at the apartment, Renae made dinner, we researched guides for seeing the ruins, and I got caught up on the blog.

No photos today.  I'll have better pictures of the places we'll visit later.  The pictures from the top of a moving bus didn't turn out as well as I hoped.
