Day 8 - We arrived in Paris

We took the Eurostar to Paris without any problems.  In the waiting lounge before security, Renae met a nice, older  German man from Hamburg.  He said that he comes to London to shop because it's cheaper. Yikes!  We're in for a rude surprise if that's true.

London was a good start for us.  It allowed us to adjust to the time zone in an English speaking country.  We also got used to travelling on the tube/subway on London's very nice & easy-to-use system.

The seats on the EuroStar were larger than coach on an airplane.  Also, everyone carries their own luggage and stows it at the end of the train.

I had to exchange £115 at St. Pancras Station.  When we go to Paris, I thought I had lost a €50 note. Actually, I just got an awful exchange rate.  Instead of 1.15 euros per pound, I only got 1.01-lost about $20 on the exchange rate.

My Seagate Goflex 2TB portable drive has died!  Renae accidentally knocked the drive off the tray table on the train.  We stored all of our photos on them.  Fortunately, I backed them up to my laptop last night.  However, all of the DVDs I burned for the girls to watch were only on that drive.  Oh well, we still have access to Netflix on the laptop.

When we first hopped on the subway from Gare du Nord to our stop at Pont de Neuilly, the subway was very crowded.  I was carrying 2 bags and my backpack.  The doors ended up closing on my backpack--had to wait until the next stop to get free.

We're staying in an apartment run by an American company, vacationinparis.com.  Here is a map of where we're staying.  There is a Monoprix grocery store a short ways from here.  The telephone number for this apartment is +33 (0)9 53 88 87 40.
