Day 7 - Last Day in London

Today was our last day in London.  Due to time (and money) constraints, we had to choose between going to Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.  We chose to go to....

Buckingham Palace.  Since the palace is only open for parts of August and September, we decided to take advantage of this opportunity.  The palace also allowed us to stay in London for the day.  We splurged for the "Royal Day Out" tickets (the Queen charges a pretty penny to view her palace).  Included in the ticket:

No photos of the State Rooms (the queen doesn't allow photos).  However, it was quite extravagant.

The Queen's gallery has pictures obtained by over the years by the sovereign.  Most were collected by King George IV.

At the Royal Mews, are the Queen's horses, carriages, Bentleys and Rolls Royces.

We ended up seeing the Queen's 17 state rooms and a special exhibit of the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress (yes, I know you guys are all jealous!)

After Buckingham Palace, we took the bus up to Harrods.  Where we got......................................
a free map!  For shop-a-holics, Harrods is a great place.  I, however, found it to be another overpriced department store with poor directions to the men's room.

We ate a quick dinner at Subway (the sandwich shop) and a Chinese noodle joint.  At the Subway here, I got a tandori chicken sub--especially delicious!  Finally, we took a bus ride back to the Imperial War Museum.  The girls really wanted to see the WWII Blitz experience.

Tomorrow, we're taking the Eurostar to Paris.

Good Bye, London.

Bonjour, Paris!

Im so glad you dd Buckingham palace instead of Winsor's Castle. Winsor is cool to see on the outside but Buckingham palace is much better!
